The tour starts at 10am from Wrexham Visitor Centre, Chester Street, Wrexham, LL13 8BB.
As we leave Chester Street, we weave our way through Wrexhamβs medieval and Victorian streets, alleys, and passageways. Along the way, we explore Wrexhamβs heritage and history, going back centuries and including some of the gorier details. We talk about coal mining in the area, breweries, markets, and much more.
HIGHLIGHTS π£
We visit St Gilesβ Church, a medieval church with ancient stories to tell, as well as the recently renovated Victorian Butchers Market and Butter Market. We also visit some of the locations featured in the Welcome to Wrexham documentaries and chat about some of the characters connected to them.
We then walk towards Wrexham Miners Rescue Station for lunch and a history tour of the station, covering its past, present, and future plans.
From there, we visit the Racecourse Ground and club shop before moving on to The Turf, where we learn about its history and association with Wrexham AFC. Your local, professional, and accredited tour guide has also supported Wrexham AFC for many years and will share hints, tips, and local knowledge about the club along the way.
The tour will go ahead regardless of the weather, so please ensure you wear appropriate clothing. The ground is uneven in places, with some steps and inclines, so suitable footwear is recommended.
The tour is taken at a moderate pace.
There will be a comfort stop during the tour, as well as an opportunity to purchase a takeaway coffee.
